Byron Shire
Myocum Resource Recovery Centre

The main tip for Byron Shire. Accepts general waste, green waste, metals, e-waste, mattresses, whitegoods, and recyclables. Has a secondhand shop where you can buy reusable items. Gate fees apply for most waste types, with green waste being the cheapest and general waste the most expensive.
Tweed Shire
Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre
Location: Dulguigan Road, Stotts Creek
Hours: Seven days, typically 7:30am-4:30pm

The primary facility for Tweed Shire residents. Full-service facility accepting all waste types. Free e-waste drop-off for household quantities. Weighbridge pricing for most waste. Located centrally for Tweed Heads and surrounding suburbs.
Murwillumbah Waste Management Facility
Location: Quarry Road, South Murwillumbah
Hours: Check Tweed Shire Council website for current hours
A secondary facility serving the western Tweed area. Useful for Murwillumbah, Uki, and Tyalgum residents who don't want to drive to Stotts Creek.
Ballina Shire
Ballina Waste Management Centre

Serves Casino, Evans Head, Coraki, and surrounding areas. Standard waste acceptance with recycling facilities.
What to Bring to the Tip
Before heading to any facility, prepare properly:
- Sort your waste — separate recyclables, green waste, and general waste before you arrive
- Cover your load — NSW law requires loads to be covered or secured during transport
- Bring cash or card — most facilities accept both, but check beforehand
- Know what's not accepted — asbestos, large quantities of hazardous waste, and some industrial waste require specialist disposal
- Wear appropriate clothing — closed shoes, gloves, and sun protection
Free Recycling Options
Many items can be recycled for free across the Northern Rivers:
- Return and Earn: 10c refund per eligible container. Machines in Byron Bay, Ballina, Tweed Heads, and Lismore.
- E-waste: free drop-off at all major resource recovery centres
- Scrap metal: some scrap dealers will pay for large quantities of clean metal
- Motor oil: many mechanics and service stations accept used motor oil
